Diary of a 17 year old girl to a 21 year old married woman…

April 14th

1981

Had a fire drill at school and then a prefect’s meeting about a trip to London on 14th May, but I won’t be able to go as I will be starting my new job then! Space Shuttle Colombia landed.

Space Shuttle Columbia touches down on lakebed runway 23 at Edwards Air Force Base, Calif., to conclude STS-1, the first orbital shuttle mission on April 14, 1981. It was a daring flight, no doubt. In fact, it’s often been called “the boldest test flight in history.”

1982

Work was okay, I had trouble doing a zebra crossing summons, not sure why I couldn’t understand it? Went to training, I’m doing the relay race. Mum was in a really bad mood today. I bought an Abba magazine.

1983

Not a lot of work today, Jean got told off by Margaret about an excess alcohol file. Steve and Dave came round, phoned up Lisa. It was the last Kenny Everett Video show tonight.

Kenny Everett as one of my favourite characters, Sid Snot!

1984

Took Bruce for a walk, lovely weather today. Sally, Alan, Kelly and Lee came round and we played badminton and table tennis. Wrote and posted a letter to Neil.

1985

Phil and also the family came round, we played charades, it was a really good laugh. We went out for a drink in the evening.
