Diary of a 17 year old girl to a 21 year old married woman…

March 9th

1981

I took the Rubik’s cube to school today – no-one could do it, not even Mr Hawkins! Watched Yes Minister which was funny – wrote a letter for a Saturday job at British Home Stores.

I found out today that I got the job at the Southern Evening Echo, it was a bit of a shock as I didn’t think I did that well! I’m gonna take it though, working for a newspaper is so cool. Margaret upset Jean today at work. We had to tidy up the summons cabinet today and throw out the out of date summons pads.

1983

Felt sick when I woke up this morning, mum gave me some syrup medicine and feel a bit better now.

1984

We were let off early from college today, so I went into town and bought The Weather Girls – It’s Raining Men.

1985

Had a lazy morning – got up at 10:35, Sally, Alan, Kelly and Lee came round and I gave Lee his birthday present. Phil came round and we phoned up Town and Country building society about our mortgage. We went to Petters in the evening and I spent the night at Phil’s house.
